Western Australia is blessed with some of the most beautiful coastlines in the country - in fact, I think we have some of the best beaches in the world.

Geographe Bay is no exception. A 2-3hr car ride south of Perth, this region offers a wide array of attractions and activities from calm waters and white sandy beaches, to limestone cliffs and surf breaks, skydiving and whale watching, to a rich diversity of art, culture and history. It is famous for wine production, fresh regional produce, gourmet foods and is the perfect getaway to recharge and relax. It's perfect for couples, friends, families and the best part is that it's so close to Perth!

The Subiaco Farmers Market located at the Subiaco Primary School is on every Saturday from 8am-10am, offering organic, bio-dynamic fresh goodies in a relaxed, village like setting.

It has a great atmosphere for both adults and children, offering live music, local stallholders with homemade goodies, fresh farm produce, specialty foods and more.

My usual Saturday mornings start with Dad and I visiting the Subiaco Station Market for groceries, then to the Farmers Market to get specialty food items.

Subiaco Station Market

Every Saturday or Sunday morning, as long as I am not teaching class, Dad and I have our weekly ritual of heading bright and early to the markets at Subiaco Station Street. As well as stocking up on our groceries for the week, we also have some father-daughter bonding time which is always nice.

I love any sort of farmer's market. The produce always smells amazing and seeing the rows and rows of wholesomeness is worth getting up at 7am. Subiaco has most of the staple items I purchase every week - apart from produce, they also have stalls for Prana Health Foods, Angry Almond (their online store is now 2 Brothers), a butcher, The Spice Library, a bakery as well as an array of food stalls from Mexican, Vietnamese, Indian, Japanese, to fresh made crepes and fresh juices.

I also find it much cheaper overall than the normal supermarkets and there is just a better energy in a market with each little stall, the farmers and the owners, than a big commercial building with just people working in there.

The Little Shop of Plenty Raw Food Workshop

A few Saturdays ago I decided to visit the Subiaco's Farmer's Market, I hardly go since every week I get most of my groceries at the Subiaco Station Street Market and that has always served me well. However during my recent nut/seed phase I'd stumbled across The Little Shop of Plenty, which in their product list include dehydrated pizza bases so I thought I'd go have a look.

Well it turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made. I met Kim and Mark, this lovely couple who are dedicated to making wholesome foods with fresh, organic, local and minimally processed ingredients. Their stall include an array of raw goodies from superfood slices, macaroons, nut cheeses, dehydrated barks to breakfast granola. Whilst digging into a raw green tea macaroon, I saw that they were offering a raw food workshop so of course I signed up and then left their stall with buckwheat bark, a beautiful lemon cheesecake, a herb cashew probiotic cream cheese and a portobello mushroom pate, all which were absolutely amazingly tasty!

"I am not what happened to me,
I am what I choose to become"
    Carl Gustave Jung

I'm Binny, a full time Bikram Yoga teacher and studio owner that lives in Perth, Australia.

I started this blog to share the things I love the best in the world: being healthy and happy, food (especially raw), yoga, traveling and most importantly, learning how to love and be true to myself.

I suffered from severe digestive problems when I was younger, being gluten and lactose intolerant, and developed compartment syndrome and fibromyalgia in my teens. I have lived with constant pain for over 16 years now.

Over the past 10 years, I've shifted to a mainly plant based diet and realised that being well and healthy is a way of life. I have been teaching Bikram yoga since 2011, in the US and Australia. Due to my health issues I've also had a lot of bodywork done as well as explored alternative therapies.

I've become much more aware of myself as a result of all this - physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Right now I love my life. In my career I love what I do and I do what I love. I have traveled to some amazing places around the world and made lifelong friends. In between working and traveling, I cook up a storm in the kitchen, especially raw  desserts, spend time with the people I love the best, which now includes a yoga husband, a mini yogini Estell, and our dog! I try to listen to my body the best I can.

I truly believe that we all have the power and the capabilities to heal our own bodies, to nourish the spirit and seek our own happiness and life's purpose. This my journey...
