This account of a 30 day practice is inspiring. It showcases how much a body can change after a consistent yoga practice. One thing that stood out in the article, which I'm sure many of us can relate to was:
"I'm surprised I like Bikram yoga. 5 or 6 years ago, I tried it out and didn’t like that every class features the same sequence of poses or that certain postures were not included. I remember thinking it was a bit dangerous for me to be stretching so aggressively and I was worried I’d injure myself... What a difference 6 years makes! Bikram is the same, but now I’m loving it. I can see that the sequence of postures “unlocks” the body one part at a time (like peeling an onion). I love the HEAT." These photos are truly awe inspiring, it's amazing what the body is capable of through hard work, determination and dedication.
My mother has arthritis in her fingers, she's had it for several years. 3 years ago she started Bikram, practicing 3 times a week. After the first year she no longer had the pain in her joints. Each year after she has lost the stiffness in her fingers and has much more mobility. This article goes through someone's journey with arthritis and Bikram as well as explaining the many benefits! Joseph Encinia, 2011 Male World Champion, was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at a young age, going through years of pain and hospital visits, suffering from a heart attack at the age of 13. Through Bikram, he has not only strengthened his whole body, he has surpassed doctor's expectations, honed his body and going on to competing and winning the yoga championships! So it just goes to show, anything is possible!
This is just a feel good entertaining performance that is the right blend of charisma, talent, fun and great body control. How's that for inspiration!
Post by Cynthia Wehr. Bikram Yoga Mountain View is owned by Cynthia Wehr, who is the 2007 female World Champion. She's a bubbly energetic spirit who loves yoga and it's infectious. She makes Bikram fun! Here's a great clip from their 3 year anniversary, showcasing some advanced postures as well the ones from the beginner's series!
This was a good read, I have eaten meat in the past and everyone has to find the diet that is good for their optimum health and wellbeing, but it certainly doesn't hurt to broaden ones mind and try new things! I never force my views on my friends or other people when it comes to food, nor do I expect they do it to me, but it's always interesting having a read about different points of view.
This for me pretty much sums it up. Here's a short article highlighting the benefits of Bikram yoga. It truly works you on every level: physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. All you have to do, is step in the room. Josh & the 60 Day Sweat from mitchellpalmer on Vimeo. I have only ever done a 30 day Bikram yoga challenge in the 4 years I have been practicing. One class a day, for 30 consecutive days. I have practiced 2 in one day, 3 in one day, at training we practiced 11 classes a week, but it's really hard to commit to one class a day, every single day. Around the 2 week mark I always need a day off. So this video was really inspiration for me, to commit and just for it. Ask Bikram says: Give me 30 days and I will change your body. Give me 60 days and I will change your life. When are you ready to change your life? |
"I am not what happened to me,
I am what I choose to become" Carl Gustave Jung I'm Binny, a full time Bikram Yoga teacher and studio owner that lives in Perth, Australia.
I started this blog to share the things I love the best in the world: being healthy and happy, food (especially raw), yoga, traveling and most importantly, learning how to love and be true to myself. I suffered from severe digestive problems when I was younger, being gluten and lactose intolerant, and developed compartment syndrome and fibromyalgia in my teens. I have lived with constant pain for over 16 years now. Over the past 10 years, I've shifted to a mainly plant based diet and realised that being well and healthy is a way of life. I have been teaching Bikram yoga since 2011, in the US and Australia. Due to my health issues I've also had a lot of bodywork done as well as explored alternative therapies. I've become much more aware of myself as a result of all this - physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Right now I love my life. In my career I love what I do and I do what I love. I have traveled to some amazing places around the world and made lifelong friends. In between working and traveling, I cook up a storm in the kitchen, especially raw desserts, spend time with the people I love the best, which now includes a yoga husband, a mini yogini Estell, and our dog! I try to listen to my body the best I can. I truly believe that we all have the power and the capabilities to heal our own bodies, to nourish the spirit and seek our own happiness and life's purpose. This my journey... Archives
