This account of a 30 day practice is inspiring. It showcases how much a body can change after a consistent yoga practice. One thing that stood out in the article, which I'm sure many of us can relate to was:

"I'm surprised I like Bikram yoga.
5 or 6 years ago, I tried it out and didn’t like that every class features the same sequence of poses or that certain postures were not included.
I remember thinking it was a bit dangerous for me to be stretching so aggressively and I was worried I’d injure myself...
What a difference 6 years makes! Bikram is the same, but now I’m loving it.
I can see that the sequence of postures “unlocks” the body one part at a time (like peeling an onion).

I love the HEAT."

I've had several friends who have tried it once, maybe twice and then due mainly to the heat, they have decided never to go back, or they found it too hard. However I don't think many of us are great at anything the first few times we try it, everything in life usually takes time and experience before we get good at it and yoga is no exception. Taking it a day at a time, seeing the body change one bit at a time.

If you take your first class and you're unsure of taking another, have a little patience, read Luca's blog and give it another try. It's amazing to see the changes in Lucas's body throughout the 30 days and he documents not only the physical changes, but also the mental and emotional changes he goes through and experiences, the ups as well as the downs. Bikram always says "Give me 30 days and I will change your body. Give me 60 days and I will change your life."

"I am not what happened to me,
I am what I choose to become"
    Carl Gustave Jung

I'm Binny, a full time Bikram Yoga teacher and studio owner that lives in Perth, Australia.

I started this blog to share the things I love the best in the world: being healthy and happy, food (especially raw), yoga, traveling and most importantly, learning how to love and be true to myself.

I suffered from severe digestive problems when I was younger, being gluten and lactose intolerant, and developed compartment syndrome and fibromyalgia in my teens. I have lived with constant pain for over 16 years now.

Over the past 10 years, I've shifted to a mainly plant based diet and realised that being well and healthy is a way of life. I have been teaching Bikram yoga since 2011, in the US and Australia. Due to my health issues I've also had a lot of bodywork done as well as explored alternative therapies.

I've become much more aware of myself as a result of all this - physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Right now I love my life. In my career I love what I do and I do what I love. I have traveled to some amazing places around the world and made lifelong friends. In between working and traveling, I cook up a storm in the kitchen, especially raw  desserts, spend time with the people I love the best, which now includes a yoga husband, a mini yogini Estell, and our dog! I try to listen to my body the best I can.

I truly believe that we all have the power and the capabilities to heal our own bodies, to nourish the spirit and seek our own happiness and life's purpose. This my journey...
