We started off with the Kelp Salad, It was recommended to us by one of the waiters as something that is quite different from the normal seaweed ones. True to his word out came a dish with several different types of kelp, each of which had a distinctive texture and flavour. It was rather tasty, but you do have a fan of strong seaweed tastes.
Our last shared dish was the Roast Vegetable with Yuzu Truffle Dressing, consisting of mushroom, sweet potato, cauliflower, zucchini and asparagus all roasted with a sweet lemon dressing. Apart from the sweet potato not being cooked all the way through (I prefer mine to be mushy), it was delightful.
I did however suggest to Lisa that she try one of the signature dishes and she went for the Creamy Spicy Crab. I've actually tasted this in the past, and I think it's one of their most decadent dishes. Succulent pieces of chunky crab mixed with creamy Japanese mayonnaise, but what makes it amazing is the crunchy tobiko you get with every mouthful. Lisa had to eat the whole dish to herself but loved every bite of it!
To end the night we had sorbets and their famous Bento box, chocolate fondant and green tea icecream. We chose coconut, pineapple and lychee, all of which were refreshing and light, while the gluten free cake with it's gooey rich sweet chocolate center was offset with the slightly bitter matcha flavour which was the perfect balance.
